The Catcher in the Rye Author J.D. Salinger Died at 91

January 27 broke the news regarding the renowned artist Jerome David Salinger’s death. More commonly known as J.D. Salinger, the author of the 1951 novel The Cather in the Rye, he died of natural causes in his hometown Cornish, New Hampshire.

His last interview was held in 1980 while it was in 1965 when he last published a novel. He was raised in Manhattan and had started writing short stories in high school before serving in the second World War.

He has been known for his really good style and characterization for the protagonist Holden Caufield in his famous work which is still one of the most successful, widely-read and controversial novels of all time – selling at an estimate of 250,000 copies annually.
