Showtime Suspension due to Rossana Roces, Unnecessary?
Hit noontime show, ‘Showtime’ hosted by Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro and Kuya Kim was suspended due to the alleged derogatory comments made by Rossana Roces, referring to teachers as ‘repeaters’. Here’s a video of the said incident aired last January 7.
As a preventive measure, ABS-CBN immediately pulled Rossana Roces out of the show the next day explaining the reasons why while her apologizing about her remarks.
However, MTRCB was not happy about it – that they imposed a twenty-day suspension of the show effective today, January 12. Now, Showtime is out of our screens for a while, while a replacement show entitled, “Magpasikat” which is a talent showcase by celebrities is running on its left time slot.
My Take on the Matter? Read on.
I believe that the network has done whatever they can to penalize themselves and regulate the show. Removing Rossana Roces from the judging panel, the apology and their official statements were made quick and were presented very gracefully a day after the comments were blurted out by the celebrity.
And probably, because MTRCB was bored having nothing to do over their seats, has caused this to happen. Proper due process should have been arranged before the suspension of the show. Ignoring the actions made by the network to make up for what has been shown was also kinda dismaying. Not even a single hearing was arranged for the network to defend themselves from the issue and even Teachers question the suspension.
For me, this is kinda outrageous and the criticism was somehow appalling but it was just fine. Some people might have been hurt but it was not worth a suspension.

I agree with you on that. The suspension is kinda overrated. I think whether what she said was right or wrong, that is her opinion. There were also other judges who gave a different view making it somewhat balance na rin.

Yes, good to know the suspension was lifted. Gah. MTRCB and other government offices are twisted nowadays. We really need to make a wise decision come 2010. The President should appoint people fit for their jobs. </3
