If you want to read on the highlights of iBlog6 Day 1 Morning Session, please click the link provided.

For the second day of the event, I expect a lot of familiar faces to come at the iBlog6. Of course, we will probably see more cliques and groups of bloggers tomorrow as the iBlog6 culminates. I also hope that I would still be able to get a shirt for this year, or possibly more. My goal for tomorrow is to be a bit more sociable and meet with those people whom I have met or came across with over the internet for the past year. I hope to see you all guys there tomorrow! I am really excited to meet more bloggers, and most especially the talk of Mr. Marhgil Macuha, a well-known problogger. I am currently reading his Guerilla Blogging SEO E-Book and have been learning a lot.

09:20 AM - Flair Candy / Hannah Villasis talked about basics of blogging and how important it is to jumpstart blogging.

Notes
I am expecting a lot of people to come in a few hours. Morning sessions of iBlog6 usually doesn’t fill up Malcolm. Many bloggers (prominent ones) will probably arrive this afternoon. And this hall will be jamapacked.

Vince Golangco is very entertaining. I like it that we are learning something while he makes really good jokes! Its an entertaining presentation. He shows videos and funny clips and still makes a point.

Jinoe Gavan’s Launching Successful Blog Contest

Running contests on blog:
Main problem is where to get prizes (may it be on your own pocket, previous prizes, sponsors, friends)

Types of Contest
- blog (very time consuming but can help you in SEO and link building
- photos and videos
- quiz (relevant or funny to your site)
- comments (give comments to your site and then get a lot of entries, weight on sponsor thinking on viral aspect is lesser)
- survey or polls

How to Determine the Winner
- Quality (best post or comment, if you are the judge give criteria)
- Quantity (points earned, most number of hits, most number of comments – effective in promoting site though might be spam-ish)
- Luck (random numbers, raffle or randomizer.org)

Announcing the Contest
Simple introduction (why you are holding the contest, make the title of the contest catchy to create buzz, mechanics should be clear especially on time period, qualifications, judging)

Contest Tips
- Providing relevant prizes/product or service (for food, food gift certificates, travel – bags shirts and souvenirs, tech- gadgets, merchandise)
- Check handling and delivery
- Make it simple. Two paragraphs to introduce, theme of the contest then mechanics. Simple mechanics.
- Promote contest with a bang
- Plug it in a social media.

When to have blog contests
- Celebration (anniversary or milestones)
- Promotion (products and services)
- Interaction (hits, response, participation)

Making Themes for Sponsors
- choose related to your contest but if they insist, GOGOGO!

More Tips
- Be on time in announcing winners.
- Follow up on winners and prizes
- Work closesly with sponsors so expectations would be met.
- Thank the readers, participants, winners and sponsors.

It was really a good day and initially I thought it was more targeted to newbies but I learned a lot especially on photoblogging and videoblogging. And Mr.Baler made me laugh a lot but aside from that, his talk on impact of blogging is inspiring. :)

Actually, I think it was really targeted for the newbies. If there are unfamiliar words that they have not encountered before, then it's probably for them to find out after the discussion! It was also great to see how much iBlog has transformed, how new things affect each aspect every area of blogging. That is probably why blogging is at its peak right now.

I agree with you on Mr. Golangco and Mr. Batang Baler discussions! Haha. Laugh trip but very substantial.

Though, I saw a different perspective in this iBlog6 – the side that most of us are afraid to jump in – Marck Remorin, Noemi Dado and Tonyo Cruz did well in imposing the role of bloggers in the society. We may not be able to dictate what will happen this coming May but blogs are definitely the archives or the history reservoir of the new era.

I also loved how diverse the topics were this iBlog6 – and a lot of new things were laid out to the audience. SEO and Blog Marketing are some new topics which iBlog6 focused on this year – something that can attract more bloggers but at the same time, with serious stuff (political blogging) which can strengthen the role of bloggers in the society.
