Hotlines, Volunteer Corps and Fund Drives for Typhoon Ondoy Victims in the Philippines

In: News

27 Sep 2009

Tropical Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy – local name) hits the Philippines and made a landfall on Luzon yesterday bringing huge floods in Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon.

Thousands of night workers and those who went to school and offices in the morning were still stranded and unrescued. Major highways were shut down due to floods and aftermaths of the typhoon. NAIA terminals have also cancelled flights and domestic flights around the country were stopped.

In some areas near the biggest dams in the metro which overflowed, the floods have reached up to six feet.

The action taken to national disaster is awesome but it’s a damn shame that so many people take advantage of the sad situations.

I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill – there’s always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.

This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys “angels” got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!
