Tomorrow, I will be casting my vote for the first time in the national elections. This, in my eyes, have been the most controversial, most discussed one ever since my birth. Since you know already who I am voting for this coming elections, then I won’t waste my time listing them down here as most of the reasons why I am voting for them is similar to each other.

That is why I came up with an idea on trying to predict the Philippine Elections 2010 Results.

For the presidency, a lot of people may be mislead to vote for Noynoy Aquino, the leading candidate. However, it appears to me that his lead which is very apparent in NCR might not translate with the votes in other parts of the country. When people in the province are asked, those with solid party foundations in the local government units lead the roll – something good for the administration bet Gilbert Teodoro and Nacionalista party frontier Manny Villar. With that said, as of the moment, I am expecting a three-way race to the presidency between Noynoy Aquino, Manny Villar and Gibo Teodoro.

With a margin of error of 2%, I made myself a list of probable sharing of votes in each of the regions of the country, just for fun and my list ended up with the following results with Gibo Teodoro possibly lower, as I assumed that the Mindanao votes are on his side along with Manny Villar. Visayas is definitely going for Gibo with almost equal following from Noynoy and Villar. The North vote was also considered – the places known to be in the side of Villar and the NCR and neighboring regions vote which was accounted to Noynoy Aquino.
Aquino, Noynoy – 29.94%
Villar, Manny – 29.16%
Teodoro, Gilbert – 24.60%
Estrada, Erap – 9.44%
Gordon, Dick – 4.78%
Villanueva, Eddie – 2.67%
Madrigal, Jamby – 1.36%
Delos Reyes, JC – 0.22%
Perlas, Nicanor – 0.18%

The work was tedious. This forecasting is very difficult to do. For the Vice-President position, the race is between two candidates Mar Roxas and Jejomar Binay – this boils down to the inclination of the Visayas and Mindanao votes. But for me, the Philippine Elections 2010 Results for Vice-President would be an upset win for Jejomar Binay with a close margin against Mar Roxas.

A lot of factors can affect the 2010 Philippine Elections Results especially for President and Vice-President as this will be the first year for the automated system to get on track. I fear of people losing their rights to vote just because of ignorance. I hope that the Filipinos are well-prepared to vote in this kind of system. I also hope that the Philippine 2010 Elections Results especially for the Vice-President and President positions will be released early and will be transparent enough as this the most crucial decision Filipinos will ever make.

Lastly, I pray that this 2010 Philippine Elections, both local and national levels, would be a peaceful one. Days before this, I was starting to feel bad vibes and possible bloodsheds this coming elections – I hope for safety of all and hopefully, our country will be lead by the best leaders with the true mandate of the Filipino people.

This is the April 28 episode of Kandidato, television’s toughest job interview, Nacionalista Party presidential bet Senator Manny Villar gets grilled by Arnold Clavio, Howie Severino, and Malou Mangahas on the topics surrounding his candidacy.

These are my reactions regarding the Manny Villar Kandidato Job Interview.

On Personality

What I like with Villar is his consistency. His answer on which Philippine hero does he idolize is Andres Bonifacio, who like him, came from the poor, worked hard and is very brave. He has also shown me how great of a father and a family man he is – he brought his kids well, he said his happiest times are being with his family and children especially when they are all together celebrating New Year and Christmas.

He has also shown how strong-willed he is that every single time he discovers his weaknesses, he always makes a way to combat it by himself. He wants to remain strong. He also stresses on how he dislikes hypocrites who are telling things which they cannot adhere to in the future. He also despises arrogant people. When he was asked on the things that he wants to change in himself – he naturally said he doesn’t bother thinking about it especially now that he’s old because he always finds a way to adjust and combat his weaknesses. I find this very important as a president should be disciplined and goal-oriented, that if he focused on something – he will for sure get the job done.

When asked about luxuries, he said that whenever there are new things he encounter, he will normally try them just to experience the feeling but he won’t get addicted to it. This goes to show how simple his happiness can be. He doesn’t need luxury. Yes, he may have gret cars or houses – but its normal for someone like him who rose from the poor to aspire for a better and more comfortable setup.

He was also asked what is the greatest thing he has ever done for his country. He said that he had already fulfilled his ambition to be wealthy and that is for himself. What is important is that after that, he has helped a lot of people and he considers it the greatest thing he has ever done and that is why he needs to get the President seat so he can help a lot more people and he can fulfill another ambition which is ending poverty in the country.

On Platform

Regarding on platform, I loved how he emphasized the importance of leadership, management skills and capability to inspire – competence. This then separates him from other candidates who has similar platforms with him. He definitely makes us believe he has all the approach and techniques he can do to solve our problems. It boils down to the ability to lead and run the country, the experience in governing a populace. He also stressed that there are candidates who can easily memorize the platforms made by their sorties, he emphasizes on what he has done is the best basis on what he can do in the future.

Also, his takes on different national issues were practical and he answers in a conversational and natural way – he answers not to impress but to express and inform. He also plans in eradicating corruption in the government and impress people that in the first hundred days of his term, everything will be transparent. He also defended himself from rumors of his corruption of government’s funds when he said “Hindi ako kumuha ng pera ng gobyerno.”

His consistency in his ambition to help the poor is very obvious all through out the interview focusing on education needs, employment and health care. He always has stands and stands which are practical and attainable. He also stresses on the fact that he has sufficient knowledge on the economy and management as well as business which can really make our foreign debts less and our economy to rise.

His take on population and the RH bill is somehow unique from other candidates. He believes it should not be imposed as a country will remain sturdy and successful even if the population is big – what’s important is the competency and the ability to lead and run the country. He also solidified the fact that he is not the administration’s pawn and that there is no Villaroyo when he answered that charter change is not a priority in a very calm and natural manner. He believes that in a country, a great leadership is needed as a country should be sturdy and surviving regardless of any form of government.

If you want to know more about his platforms and his answers on issues and rumors his detractors are spreading, watch the videos – in a very natural and calm way, he had explained everything. If you take a moment just to look at him and with the way he speaks, he is definitely impressive. You will see how important this is to him – to help people and for his advocacy to come true. You will see how prepared and focused he is and how he has made valiant steps to reach his goals. I believe that Manny Villar is one of the candidates who is ready to become our next president. He is one of the fittest, if not the fittest for the president seat.

Regarding the hosts, I see a tinge of bias treatment with regards to Arnold Clavio’s follow up questions but the rest have maintained proper panel techniques and they were great in motivating their interviewee to answer. Anyway, this investigative journalism approach is fun to watch though

If you are still undecided if you are voting for Manny Villar, maybe this ten reasons to vote for Manny Villar can help you. If you are still misinformed regarding the different issues plaguing Manny Villar, you can go here for his answers and look for the videos at the bottom of the page.

You can also try to compare and contrast his interview with Noynoy Aquino Kandidato Interview which you can find at the link provided.

The national elections is within reach and in fact, two days from now, we will go out of our houses, combat long lines to our voting precincts and vote the candidates we believe are capable of lifting our country from hardships – there’s only one thing people are consistently shouting for – CHANGE.

One of the votes we need to take into consideration and put our mind into in the upcoming elections is choosing the partylist which will represent a certain sector of our country – a partylist which will stand by its principles in serving people and upholding the interest of the sector they are representing. My default vote goes to AVE this upcoming elections.

However, there are hundreds more to choose from, a certain percentage is needed for one partylist to win a seat or more in the upcoming elections. That is why we need to ponder on which partylists are not that popular, but of relevant interest – which represents the many and needs our vote.

Kabataan partylist for example is expected to harvest a lot of votes from the youth. I am certainly sure that this partylist would be given at least one seat in the congress. However, there are those like Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketer’s Association party list (LPGMA) which definitely needs our vote and the senior citizen party list might also make a better choice.

A lot of people may not know a lot about LPGMA but it is pretty timely to vote a representative from their end as the prices of the commodities are going up nowadays.

LPGMA is one of the groups who monitors and makes tangible results in preventing LPG price hikes. This then makes a huge difference in all households in the entire country – and you may not even notice they exist. That is why if you vote for them, you are also making a difference – a big leap, actually!

If LPG prices go unchecked, more people will resort to using alternative cooking methods. These include cooking with wood, especially in rural areas, where it contributes to the continued denudation of the forest, adds Arnel Ty.

If you suddenly think that LPGMA needs your vote, then maybe you can better understand them more by following LPGMA 161 Twitter and liking LPGMA 161 on Facebook.

This day is very special. Today is May 1, Labor Day. It may not be very obvious but there are a lot of people who wants one of the top presidentiables Noynoy Cojuangco Aquino to answer questions regarding the Hacienda Luisita controversy – especially because his family gets a tiger share in the hacienda.

He is part of the Cojuangco Family, at the same time he is running for the presidency and the election day is coming up in a few day’s time – there is a need for people to be assured that this won’t happen again; that Noynoy be cleared of this issue. This is one of the many tests he has to combat as his family has owned the hacienda for around fifty or so years already.

At this point, Hacienda Luisita haunts Noynoy’s chances of winning this upcoming elections moreso, his annual May 1 if he wins as President this May. We have to consider Hacienda Luisita as a critical Noynoy issue. The issue regarding the Hacienda Luisita started long ago when the government asked the Cojuangco family to distribute their land to farmers in the year 1967 – and the struggle to get their lands still is brewing and has not ended yet. The situation got even worse with the news of 2004 Hacienda Luisita Massacre.

Presently, there is a call for Noynoy Aquino to speak regarding the matter as this is a very important issue he must face – this is something he may face yearly whenever Labor Day comes as this is definitely a relevant issue for the workers, especially those who work in the agricultural sector. He must reassure the Filipinos that he is willing to solve this issue without lives being spared.

Currently, Noynoy leads the polls and surveys. If he wins as president and to back up Noynoy’s low competency, as none of the laws he has passed became actual laws, and this one problem close to him, he cannot solve – what more the problems of 95 million people waiting for him to take the lead to progress. How can we be assured that he will actually be capable of leading and running this nation? How can we expect him to deliver – that under his leadership – there will be no corruption and these kinds of killings won’t happen again.

On the Interviews, he said that he would give up his share and will ask his family to give their lands too. But that does not end the problem. Noynoy is urged to solve Hacienda Luisita issue, not the issue of his family being connected to it. There is a need for justice to run under his leadership and he can only show it if he can solve this issue. With that being said, I would like to think Noynoy’s just protecting himself and the fact that he’s running as president is a valid reason of why he’s willing to give his share. However, I also expect him to do what is the best interest for the majority and for the abused. He has to go further than giving up his land – he has to prove his credibility and make sure that the victims be given justice. Until now, one thing I am very observant of is that Noynoy does not know how to handle this and still there are uncertainties in Noynoy plans for Hacienda Luisita. We can recall that even his mother, Cory, had promised to give the land to the farmers, but still its still in their family’s possession. One thing is sure – whether he holds a share in the land or not – Noynoy will have to face the Hacienda Luisita issue time and time again if he does not act on it early.

That is why, we voters need to be vigilant. We have to know what’s happening around us. We shall keep on asking, “Are we sure of Noynoy competence in handling the issues he will be facing as the president of the Philippines?” In that case – I still think he isn’t competent still.

I’d rather vote for Manny Villar who can boast off his accomplishments and achievements – who has proven time and time again his genuine concern for the Filipino people than to vote for a clueless candidate who just rose to fame just because of his mother and father.

Here’s a vedio coverage on the Hacienda Luisita Massacre.

I am an avid viewer of news programs. Due to the hectic class schedule that I have this summer, I only get the chance to watch news programs like Bandila and 24 which airs right after the primetime block. Recently, I and my dormitory buddies here in Molave are checking this Bandila Hot Seat portion of the program.

The Bandila Hot Seat portion works as follows: they invite their viewers to chip in questions through Facebook and Twitter live. They ask these questions live from the candidate. A couple of days ago, Bandila started inviting the presidentiables on the hot seat.

Tonight, one of the top bets to win the President seat this coming elections will be put in the Hot Seat beside news anchors Ces Drilon and Henry Omaga-Diaz. Checking the Bandila Facebook Fanpage right now, there are already lots of questions regarding the recent controversies that Manny Villar is facing – some maybe part of election propaganda and some rose when he formally expressed his intention to run for presidency. And being the political animal that I am, it would be interesting to note how the trend of questions will be and how the questions will be chosen from a pool of Noynoy loyalists and Manny Villar supporters in Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. This is also my first time to ask questions at the Facebook Fanpage as well as make a coverage of this Bandila Hot Seat portion of the news program.

I am actually curious in Manny Villar response to C-5 controversy as it is for sure to be one of the questions to be thrown to him tonight.

First question comes from yours truly, asking Villar his concrete plans in eradicating poverty in the Philippines.

He said that a lot of nations around us have finally made steps to eradicate poverty and that the Philippines needs to start working – and start thinking that there is He then said that his main focus is on agriculture as almost half of the people experiencing poverty are those who are part of this sector. He also stressed on creating jobs and giving incentives to labor-intensive companies. He believes that with these two things, “malayo na ang mararating ng bansa sa pagtapos ng kahirapan.”

Ces Drilon followed up regarding agriculture. Villar said that we are losing a lot of efforts and money in NFA therefore, if we stop exporting rice, we save and focus on repairing irrigation systems, organize milling and poor-service facilities, we save around 5 to 10% with it alone.

The next question came from a Moslem asking Villar’s take on peace in Moro homeland.

Also, ‘yung level of education and health ay sobrang baba kaya siguro kailangang diretsuhin na iyan ng national government, then continue negotiations with them and strengthen the AFP.”

Omaga-Diaz followed up on Abu Sayyaf and MILF on which Villar said, “…Hiwalay ang MILF, hiwalay ang Abu Sayyaf pero kung sinoman ang lumalabag sa batas, dapat ‘yang hulihin. Hindi natin i-totolerate ‘yan kaya naman kasabay na ginagawa ng mga nabanggit kanina ay kailangang palakasin ang AFP para hindi na mangangailangan ng private armies at ma-disarmor na ang mga ‘yan.”

The next question is: What are your plans if you don’t win?

Dedevote my life for this. Papalakihin ang ambition na to… I will not stop in the advocacy of stopping poverty. Kaya naman, klelangan ng creativity and funds especially OFW.

Follow-up if he’s ready to lose and if he will retire in politics. He said he’ll end his three year term as senator and devote excess time in foundation. He will also continue in extending help using the helplines he created. He also admits he’s prepared whether he wins or loses and stresses on the point that the president should be very much ready to be the leader of the country. Day 1, right on, he has to manage and run the country.

Diaz asked what will he do in his first one hundred days.

Regarding surveys, he said that he values surveys a lot but there has to be a lot of considerations to be made – local organization, election day machinery and what people think would be the best for the country – people will think who is competent enough to lead the country; he is very confident that this is his advantage.

Someone asked him about his overspending in advertisements. He clarified that he has not yet exceeded the limit and that even other candidates had spent a lot for their advertisements. He also stressed that, At least ako, wala ako utang na loob kanino man.

Ces Drilon butted in and asked regarding pagbawi ng ginastos sa kampanya.

Magdidivest ako. Wala na ako dapat kumpanya. Dapat ako maging maingat diyan kasi I can be suspected and his credibility is at stake. Ang pagtulong ay matagal ko nang ginagawa but its best to help people permanently.

Sidenote: Nag-fafalter si Ces Drilon and she keeps on asking questions giving less time for people who asked through Twitter, Facebook chance to throw questions at MV. I’m beginning to think her inclination is Noynoy. Not surprised at all.

That is why I call on for the media to be fair in reporting.

Question if he will jail Arroyo if he wins as president.

DEFINITELY.

Wow. For a host, I think her side comments are pretty off. He backs this up by saying, “In fact naipakita ko na na kaya kong humabol sa isang presidente. I have the demonstrated the capacity to even go after the president!”

He was also asked regarding his mother’s appearance in the commerical.

Diaz said Villar stressed on complaining about media and asks him if he think it’s actually the reason why his ratings are dwindling. MV said not really but he’s just complaining about the recent biased reporting. He also stressed that his opponent’s technique is to ask him technical questions which his corporate lawyers can answer for him. This takes away lots of time that instead of focusing on the campaign and on the note: ANO BA ANG KAKAYAHAN NG ISANG PRESIDENTIABLE NA MAMUNO SA ISANG BANSA? He added, “Yun ang tanong dito, eh.”

Towards the end, he was asked if is it true that he’s already desperate to win the elections that he is resorting to pagpapaawa and black propaganda.

Villar thinks that the psychological report seems true.

But then yet again, Ces Drilon retorted, “Parang pong ‘yung pirma peke, eh. At ‘yung mismong pumirma – hindi inamin.”

Villar then said it’s very unethical to disclose who your patients are and this is probably the reason for the denial. He also said that regarding these issues about Noynoy, he doesn’t get interviewed much but when it comes to Villar issues, ina-araw-araw siya.

Lastly, he defended that his SAL is consistent with what he disclosed in ANC. He explained some business terms and how people confuse him and his company, and the withholding company.

Reaction:

Somehow, Manny Villar has proved to me he is very credible. Likewise, he was the only presidentiable I perceived to be most focused and most prepared to become the president. This hot seat is intense but he answered questions directly, straight on and with composure. It is also good to note that he is more focused on what he can do, his experiences as well as his achievements – he will win because he earned it and deserved it not because he’s popular.

Add to that, I think he has genuine concern for the poor people. He gives me the image that he’s really willing to help and his ambition to eradicate poverty is something we should look out for when he wins the Presidency.

At a certain extent, I agree when it comes to media being biased in reporting. Whenever there are issues regarding Noynoy, they tend to be so one-sided and if its about Villar, they keep on asking him time and time again. However, the media may have huge impact on the voting public but it is not the sole reason why Villar’s ratings are going down.

I think he’s an idealist but he’s also very practical. He also gives me the impression that he has excellent management skills which a president should know of. I am still weighing things but I am supporting Gibo Teodoro and Manny Villar as of the moment.

One of the recent issues surrounding the upcoming elections is Manny Villar’s alleged lie regarding his family’s socio-economic status when he was young. I was actually browsing hours ago regarding elections and found GMANews.TV reports Manny Villar as middle class. His breadwinner story has inspired a lot of people but for the past few weeks, his critics used poverty against him. If you would ask me, it is not only the gross income that determines the financial status. There are a lot of factors to determine so. How can one consider anyone not poor when regardless the fact that they do own these businesses and that they went to this hospital for check-up, these families, including Villar’s still face challenges just to survive from the struggles in life.

First, I think we shall deal with the concept of poverty. I do think that even if a lot of people perceived your family to have better income – one needs to understand where the money goes, how it is spent and divided to the members of the family taking into account basic expenses and cost per person. Manny Villar’s family somehow needs to shelter ten members of their family, primarily, this is the reason why they could have focused their money more on purchasing a house for themselves. Housing, as we all know is one of the basic needs of a family – whether rental or payment, it for sure gets a tiger share from the total income. We have to know how is socio-economic class stature determined? (by gross income or the kind of house one lives in). This must be a very delicate and broad topic to delve in.

Why is it really important to know the social status of Manny Villar before? He may have considered himself poor then. Why make an issue out of this. We need to contextualize how poor does the Villar family have to be in order to be considered as poor?

Now, I am not surprised if Nanay Curing responds back to attacks on Villar family socio-economic status as it is way below the belt and if you are put in a situation like this, and if found true, and those who were actually at the position – who has experienced the hardships of life, poverty and the like. Who wouldn’t be hurt? I do not believe that Manny Villar is using his mother to clean his hands from this issue. We can see other candidates’ relatives reacting whenever issues are thrown to the candidate they are supporting. Observing Erap, he mentions his mother quite often and even in Noynoy’s side – he uses his parents and we can see how Kris reacts whenever she feels that people are underestimating and throwing wrongful things against her brother. This seems to be natural thing to do.

The bottomline is, whether a candidate is running for office or not, in this case, Manny Villar, no one has the right to ever undermine the sufferings that they have been through when they were younger. This is because poverty is relative – it depends on how a person perceives it. What makes it more disgruntling is to make it seem as a lie which is kind of insulting, when you think of it, challenging what Filipinos know about living the poor life.

If you are curious regarding the subject at hand, here’s Manny Villar talking about his brother, Tondo, etc.
