It was just a few days ago when I learned that the 2009 UAAP Samsung Cheerdance Competition will be held today, Sunday, September 13, 2009. No stir here in UP as people aren’t really knowledgable of what’s gonna happen.
It was just last night when I asked my dormmates if we’re gonna attend this year’s competition, and they just said they wouldn’t mind missing this year.
I, didn’t really mind it all too. I was busy with some organization events for the past week and I thought Sunday would be a great time to rest.
But then earlier, when I woke up, I felt the urge to go so I tried to ask my dorm barkada to go too and luckily, a dormmate has gotten a hold of some tickets and off we are to Araneta Coliseum for this year’s UAAP Samsung Cheerdance Competition.
Personally, I feel bad for UP even before the event took place. I just didn’t feel the old UP Pep Squad vibe during the past months. I think that they lacked support and morale the past few months.
Then, we went to the UP crowd, and we were standing.
The UAAP cheerdance competition has started.
Adamson University surprised me with their costume. Their stunts are kinda old. I was actually astounded as how a lot of parts in their routines are kinda similar of UP’s past performances.
Their props are kinda wow.
National University’s routines are simple. Really. I hope they improve.
The self-proclaimed benchmark of excellence and standards of cheerdancing went at the stage, took the limelight for a while but didn’t wow me at all. The University of Sto. Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe came in with a huge crowd but got lost somewhere in the middle. Their stunts were okay; their dancing were okay. Parts of their routine are very unique and their props are similar with Adamson’s. I don’t know how the hell that happened. This is probably their weakest performance of the decade.
La Salle went on the stage and passed by. Bye.
UP Pep Squad kinda turned me off a bit this year. They had a great start but they were not able to sustain it. The crowd went wild with their breathtaking moves. Technicalities? They’re probably the one to beat even if there were a couple of misses in the pyramid formation. I was waiting for guys taking hold of the routine but this year, they weren’t too much visible.
Yes, they have tough routines and stunts but then, it was at a certain level, boring.
UP is known for great concepts. Too bad their UP LIFE theme this year didn’t connect much to a lot. That University Avenue representation was nice. Just not a great ending. In short, bitin.
Ateneo Babble Batallion improved so much this year! That moonwalk saved them and their trademark: simple but naughty routines paid off. Great job this year. I must say that they deserve this year’s second place.
Last year, I even liked their performance than UST’s.
UE Warriors’ concept(s) is(are) off. There are a lot of them. At one point, they have a folk dance; then they have a Sayaw Kikay. I don’t get it much. Anyways, I’d bet their fifth.
FEU Pep Squad was a perfect ending. All schools did well but no one did it best than them this year. It was really a nice routine. And technicality-wise, they’re good too. Great job! Our jaws drop after their swift and flawless performance.
This is probably the closest match ever and I agree that this year’s results are pretty much how it really went!
Congratulations to the FEU Tamaraws who won the CHAMPIONSHIP this year at the 2009 UAAP Cheerdance Competition!
Cheers to the Katipunan schools Ateneo de Manila University and UP for bringing home the second and third places respectively.

Next year, humanda ka.. humanda ka… heto na.. heto na ang UP! ![]()
I must admit, I really felt sorry for the UP Pep Squad when I saw them hugging each other and that sadness in their faces after two years of great showing. KUDOS UP PEP SQUAD! I believe you’ll snag the title next year.
On the other hand, I’m sorrier for those who cheered for themselves when our school was announced second runner-up, and they got nothing.

It’s sad how I wasn’t able to watch the CDC even on TV. Hahaha. May ginagawa. Arghh.
I was really rooting for UP though! I can’t judge FEU, manunuod muna ako sa YouTube. Hahahaha.

Haha. Lahat naman maka-UP eh. Lol.
Kaya lang galing at linis ng FEU this year.
For me, its FEU-UP-ADMU
yap your right..im mark from cebu..lahat ng mga contestants ay magaling pero mas malinis sumayaw ang ust, feu, at tsaka ang up…watch out for the ust 2010
you are right..UST is one of the best.hopefully mas maging malinis yung cheerdance competition ngayon with no biases and especially revenge..hehe…:)
“On the other hand, I’m sorrier for those who cheered for themselves when our school was announced second runner-up, and they got nothing.”
LOL. Napanood ko na ang replay. Alam ko kung sino yang tinutukoy mo.

Haha. Bahala sila. Hindi naman kami ang napahiya.
Tapos the whole crowd but them we’re cheering FEU-Ateneo! Haha. Feelingers kasi sila that time.
yey!! FEU

Yeah. Congrats!
UP fight pa rin!!! Kekeke…
^_^.. So far ang pinakagusto kong CDC theme ng UP ay yung ROCK..
I found UP Pep Squad, malamya this year. HINDI PARATING MAY PALYA. If you happen to see their 2007, that’s a big wow. That slammed UST down that year. ROCKKK!
Anyway, yung scores this years nga mababa at ilang points lang ang nilamang. Last year 8 pts!
Hahaha.
congrats sa feu chicken hahahaha
ui congrats din sa inyong mga isko’t iska hehehehe
di ko napanood ung cheerdance. sayang! kaya hanggang congrats na lang ang comment ko hehehe
.-= You might wanna read yeye´s blog ..panaginip =-.
haha. eh panu mo nalaman ang chicken moment ng feu?
i couldn’t help but smile with your last line. =P as one of my friends quipped, it’s funny how people are semi-bitter but not really. hehe.

lol. orayt.
haha
Natawa ako dun sa comment mo dun sa cheerdance ng DLSU. I’m from DLSU pero di ko talaga nagustuhan yung sa La Salle.
Para bang ginaya nila yung kapalaran ng Green Archers.
.-= You might wanna read Jolo´s blog ..Presenting XNA! =-.
Its a miss for DLSU this year, huh.
Wala rin yung signature men’s moves nila na parang piston-cylinder. Haha.
I wasn’t that much stunned by FEU. I do like La Salle’s performance, really. and oh, i thought UP would win. nah. I like UST’s but then, as everyone say, mejo may mga mali nga. about the props, nagulat din ako when i saw the adamson’s. duh. but then UST’s props are much better. haha lol. plus, they have somehow the same concept with UST’s. look at the costumes. duh. haha.
.-= You might wanna read Mhaye´s blog ..Fieldwork? =-.
Lol. La Salle? Really? Hahaha.
FEU did great. Everyone was expecting they won’t do that well. Pero they surprised the crowd talaga!
Were you at the Araneta that day?
I have already seen it somethere…
Jinny
Great!

the performance of ust is very unique…and amazing for me the top 3 contender are ust, feu, and u.p….watch outfor the ust this 2010 you will be suprise in their costume.props.abd stunts,,,
yeah that's right anyway as if some people just make a so-called revenge to the tigers!!!anyway win or nothing well, thomasians are always thomasians by heart and ok lng if yun ang naging result for us SALINGGAWI is one of the best and major major awesome cheerdancers na nakakaamaze everytime they dance!!!WE LOVE YOU SALINGGAWI!!!
BEING BIAS..LOL….WE CAN SEE SOMEHOW THAT YOU ARE MORE RELYING ON YOUR OWN COMMENTS AND OBSERVATION,..HAHA..BUT ANYWAY PAST IS PAST JUST WATCH OUT FOR THE UPCOMING CDC this year…:)
I will surely do. And jam, hey, this is my blog – and by default – and it won't take an intelligent person to find out that yes, these are my comments and observations. Biased for UP, probably. But definitely, my comments for other schools (which by the fact are posted, over a year ago), well, they're my opinion the way I see them dance on stage.
OMG, wtf? a year has passed and meron pa ring ganito? i read your blog from time to time pero ngayon lang ulit ako nakakita ng mga may rabies. as in rabid fans. oh, come on jam. sumusulpot lang naman ang rabid school pride ng ilang tao pag darating na ang ganitong event (and a few months later). OA na ang mag-comment. be objective (at least try). 400 years na ang UST but it hasn’t taught generations of alumni humility, grace, poise, and tact (examples: former justice secretary raul gonzales and then you). i don’t mean to say that there aren’t any bad apples and the likes of you in UP but you are such a glaring example of what your school is preaching against. discernment lang day. i do hope all squads surprise the hell out of everybody this year. i really do. para at least tumaas ang level ng competition. but i hope UP Pep will surprise us to hell and back!
